Hello Tony,
I applaud you on your efforts but please emphasise that this is for small uncomplicated premises. I have seen some scary FRA’s carried out by responsible persons.
A firefighter died in a fire in a small premises (a pub) and 22 persons had to be rescued. Was there a suitable and sufficient FRA carried out? I suspect not. Would persons using your methodology have the necessary skills and experience to understand the concepts behind the reasoning?
Be careful. A little knowledge can be more dangerous than no knowledge.
For your own information: The Guidance document for Small Sleeping Accomodation in Scotland has been changed with important changes. Go to:

Hi Denis
Thanks for the info with regard to Accommodation in Scotland,

In the blog section for our site we’re telling the story of how we changed over from being a Guest House with a fire certificate to producing our Fire Risk Assessment with the help of our Fire Officer, We have actually mention on a number of occasions that we are a Guest House and this is a copy of the email we send out with our fire risk assessment procedure.

Please find our Fire Risk Assessment Procedure attached including general fire notices, staff notices, (i.e. the cleaner) not a plc yet, emergency plan and staff training program that we use.

Remember this is the procedure I used for our F.R.A. which has been given the thumbs up by our local fire officer.
Obviously yours will be different has is everybody’s.
Just identify each area with a heading i.e. Room 1 and look at the first 5 steps in the F.R.A. PART 1 Sleeping Accommodation, on the right hand of http://www.fire-riskassessments.co.uk/
Use each step as a heading in the areas you create.

Feel free to email me if you need help,

We are a 9 bed room Guest House, uncomplicated?
When people are sleeping in buildings it becomes a little more than uncomplicated that’s probably why the Government and the Fire & Rescue Authority decided to single out our industry and publish The Fire Safety Risk Assessment Sleeping Accommodation Document.

There is also a disclaimer with our procedure that recommends people ask there Fire Inspector to call in once they have produced there fire risk assessment.

Thanks again Denis it’s good that I am challenged now and again and if need be confirm information with our Fire Inspector.

Anyone can put a fire risk assessment together with the help of their Fire Inspector and the advice is free.

Kind Regards

tONY
